Glen Belnap - Prezident
I first connected with the community way back in 2004 as a participant at one of the early gatherings. There were only a handful of us back then—maybe 70 to 80 cars. I brought my wife and we had a blast (well, me more so than her). I was in my white '78 280Z that year and absolutely tore the roads up—or as much as a stock '78 can do. I literally had the tires squealing on every turn, which was not quite what my spouse signed up for! I remember thinking back then that this community had the potential to be something truly special, and I knew right away that I wanted to help the club grow.
At the end of that first weekend, I offered my assistance to the leadership team. Over the years, my main focus has been managing the registration table, organizing membership rosters, and keeping our event check-ins running smoothly. The Carolina Z Club has grown tremendously since those early days. I see many of the same loyal faces year after year while welcoming fantastic new members to the family at every event.
Because I manage the registration process, I know almost everyone’s name and recognize most faces. However, during the rush of a busy event, I don't always get enough time to match every name to a face. Those who pre-register move through the line pretty quickly since we have the system down to a science. On-site registrations take a bit more time, so those of us behind the table always appreciate your patience if you're signing up the day of the event!
One of the best parts of being involved with this club is the incredible people I’ve met. The real shame is that I rarely get as much time to sit down and socialize during our major events as I would like, but I always look forward to our gatherings to see my Z family. I am also secretly relieved when our biggest regional events wrap up, giving us a little time to rest before we start planning the next club initiative!
I haven't brought the '78 out as much recently; these days, I’ve been driving a white '94 300ZX 2+2 and still having an absolute blast. However, there is just something about a first-generation car that gets me more excited than any other. Sorry to all of our 350Z, 370Z, and G-series members—if you have never taken a spirited drive through the Carolinas in a first-gen, you just wouldn't understand!
Bryan Settle – Vice President
I first joined this community back in 2004, initially showing up to regional drives in a 2003 Ford Lightning F150. While most custom trucks go mall crawling, I wanted to drive. The Z community welcomed me with open arms, and their passion completely shifted my focus from Drag Racing to Road Racing. Hooked on the culture, I bought my 2003 Super Black track model coupe in 2005, and the build hasn't stopped since. Today, it features a full Right-Hand Drive (RHD) conversion and an LS3 engine swap with a T101 transmission.
After years of volunteering as on-site support and joining the core staff, I took over the helm of the organization in 2008. Leading the Carolina Z Club is a massive privilege. Thanks to an incredible team of dedicated friends on our staff, our sponsors, and our passionate members, we continue to grow our regional presence and put on premier events by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts.
When I’m not managing club operations, you can find me at the track. My primary hobbies are High Performance Driving Events (HPDEs) and track days. I have driven major circuits across the country, including VIR, Road Atlanta, Roebling Road, Barber, and CMP. I also actively share my passion for motorsports by instructing for THSCC, PCA, BMWCCA, and AV.
Michelle Settle - Secretary
My first real exposure to the Z community came when I thought I was going on a date with Bryan, and we instead ended up stuffing Christmas cards... So romantic! While finishing up my DPT, I got involved in some of the administrative duties behind the scenes in 2010 and officially dove headfirst into event planning and club operations in 2011.
Once I met the awesome enthusiasts who make up this community—and y'all accepted that I like driving my "Stupra" on the track and a slightly modified 2006 Mustang GT off of it—I became a "willing participant" in taking on the massive planning and administrative execution for our club events and regional gatherings.
I have the privilege of working with an exceptional team to pull off our ever-growing club initiatives, partnerships, and friendships. Through the Carolina Z Club, I’ve made true friends not just locally, but throughout the broader Z community across the US, Canada, and Japan.
Being a part of this phenomenal group’s lives has allowed me to extend my conservative side into a track lover and party animal of epic proportions. Thank you to all of our local members, partners, and the great people who help me stay sane when Bryan is in full "Z-mode," and for making this club a pleasure to run each year. I would not trade this job and experience for anything!
Mike Foreman – Treasurer
It all started when I bought my first Z after a world cruise on the USS ENTERPRISE in 1990 in all expenses paid vacation courtesy of the US NAVY. It was a 1982 280ZX 5-speed slick-top coupe. I loved that car. Drove it back and forth across the country and was that car you look back at when walking away after parking it. You know what I mean. My passion for Z cars continued to grow and went to my first ZCON in 1992 in Knoxville, TN. Shortly after that and meeting ‘Mad’ Mike Taylor; I started a Z Club in Virginia soon after that. I moved down to Charlotte area in 1994 with my 72’ 240Z built 2.8 12:1 compression, FI and lots of goodies for the time and a 1979 280ZX-R. I joined CZC in 1995 and became president the following year. Hard times with the cancellation of the Z in 1996 but we press on. After a few years away from the Club with work and other life events, I jumped back into the club in 2007 after my 8th Z Car. A 2007 350Z “Stella” …another one I still look back at and smile at. I became more active in the club and since then I’ve served as Secretary and Treasurer over the course of 6 + years. Somewhere in there I built a track 240Z with a LS6 swap you may have seen online…CZC, ZCON ZNATS, ZDAYZ and more…it’s an amazing community across this country that I love to be involved with. I look forward to meeting the new members and building a bigger, better Carolina Z Club.
